Jumoke Oyeleke, the 25-year-old lady killed when police officers opened fire on protesters at the Yoruba National rally on July 3, has been buried today at the Atan Cemetery, in Yaba, Lagos state.
Peoples Gazette had earlier reported that she was hit by a stray bullet during the ‘Yoruba nation protest’ after the police officers began firing guns and tear gas canisters into the air in an attempt to disperse the agitators in Ojota.
Governor of Lagos State has ordered investigation into the cause of her death.
In July, a candlelight procession in Ms Oyeleke’s honour was held, with her family members, friends and other sympathisers attending.
The investigation instituted by Mr Sanwo-Olu into her death is yet to be concluded.
